The BA role in agile projects and Agile transition - Allan Kelly

The role of the BA is often misunderstood by Agile teams and few Agile methods have much to say about the BA role. Yet ensuring business needs are understood and met is essential.

In this session Allan Kelly will examine the role of BA and Product Owner in Agile teams and during the transition to Agile development. Using examples and research the session will look at:

  • Where the BA fits in
  • The challenges for a BA in an Agile team
  • New responsibilities and new ways of working
  • When the BA should take a backseat
  • How less can lead to more business value

Allan Kelly helps companies achieve operational excellence in software development using Agile methods to improve effectiveness. He is a specialist in the transition to Agile development and the ongoing process improvement process which spans business and technology. He is the author of the book Changing Software Development: Learning to become Agile (2008) as well as many journal pieces on Agile, business and learning. He is currently working on new book of Patterns for Business Strategy.

The role and career path of the Business Analyst (facilitated discussion) - Penny Pullan
