Risky Requirements?

Risk is a key issue for business analysts, after all, issues around requirements are a major cause of project failure. Once upon a time, those issues were uncertain threats and could have been avoided. What about opportunities? In these troubled times, we should make the most of these. Despite all of this, business analysts don't seem to spend much time on risk. This talk will give you tools and tricks to help you to run effective risk workshops as part of your BA role in the minimum possible time. As a group we'll identify the key pitfalls awaiting the unprepared BA and come up with ideas to solve them, which will form part of Chapter Six of Penny's new book.

Penny Pullan - Director of Making Projects Work Ltd. is a certified facilitator as well as an experienced business analyst/project manager, who works with multinationals across industry sectors. She's currently writing 'The Short Guide to Facilitating Risk' for Gower (2011). In her past life, she developed BA and PM capability inside the IT arm of Mars Inc, ran a global programme to reduce the worst forms of child labour in West Africa as well as working on user interfaces for Logica and Astra Zeneca.
